Questions about SEO, content and why it is important.

Digital marketing is an umbrella term for all marketing that is digital. Content marketing is an important part of digital marketing. At the same time, content marketing is a bigger concept than how I use it here. Content marketing does not have to be linked to directly driving traffic to a site. If you fund branded content that I don’t see on your site, that is also content marketing.

That said, content is fundamental for Google to discover your site and rank it. That is what we are focusing on here.

If you need quick results, advertising is the only way to go. Content marketing is not a Lapidus novel. It’s not a sprint. It’s not even a marathon. It is ultra-running. But – and this is important – once you start ranking well, it is difficult to move.

How quickly you can rank well on Google depends on 1) how technically sound your site is today, 2) the competitive situation.

We don’t need to go further than you. How did you find this site? Why are you reading this text? At its core, content marketing is marketing that helps prospective customers with their problems. The problem I help my clients with is digital marketing, SEO and driving the right visitors to their site and turning them into leads and customers. Hopefully this is what you want help with.

What problems do your customers have that you can help them with?

It is important to have reasonable expectations for SEO. Especially initially. SEO is not a sprint. It’s not even a marathon. It is ultra-running. The good thing is that once things happen, they are often long-lasting. If you do good SEO and rank well on a keyword, it’s hard for competitors to move you.

If you advertise on Google, you can see results after only a few minutes. At the same time, it should be remembered that only about 15% of visitors to Google click on the ads. Organic performance – what SEO is all about – is highly dependent on how competitive the market is, how good your site is and how much you work on SEO and content. However, there is a strong correlation between input and output. Generally, it takes time – months – to get results with SEO, but once the results come, the impact is usually long-lasting and exponential.

Technical SEO is one of the most unsexy things around. But it is fundamentally important for ranking well. Google is the biggest pedant and the most impatient person you will meet in life. Technical SEO is about meeting Google in this; that the page should work as well as possible from a technical perspective to rank well. By using a number of measurement tools – I regularly work with six of them – it is possible to get a good overview of how well the site works – and what needs to be done to optimize it.

Google ranks how content is published in about 30 different ways. When I write and publish content, I optimize it for the best possible ranking on Google.

Absolutely! Video is a ranking monster that Google likes. It drives more traffic, generates more engagement and creates a greater mix of content on the site. Google sees all this. In addition, film is good digital marketing in the bigger picture.

An article is written remotely and illustrated with genre or archive images. A report is produced with a photographer on site. Unique images are likely to rank slightly higher on Google.

I work with all types of companies except for the gambling and tobacco industry. I am most useful for companies with long sales tunnels, or when there are many questions for the customer in connection with the purchase. A house manufacturer is probably a better customer than McDonald’s. And vice versa. 

Basically, I am a one-man consultant. But I have a network of expertise around me depending on what it is. I’d rather work more and closely with fewer clients than try to maximize assignments (and perhaps, as a risk, do a worse job).

 

It takes time for SEO to produce results. I therefore prefer longer-term assignments. 6 months initial contract, then ongoing with 2 months’ notice is what I prefer. But of course it is always the customer who decides.
